Since 2014 Professor Diane L. Parness has been the Academic Director of the Holocaust & Genocide Lecture Series. Dr. Parness is a Professor of Political Science and has taught at SSU since 1991. She received her M.A. from George Washington University and her Ph.D. from Georgetown University.  Her specialty is Comparative Politics with an emphasis on European and particularly German politics. 

She has taught courses on comparative, European, and Russian politics as well as courses on political theory. Her recent research interests include the ascendance of right-wing parties on the European political scene.  Dr. Parness has done research in Germany as a Thyssen Stiftung Fellow and participated in the International Conference on Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem.

Her work planning the Holocaust & Genocide lecture series is one of the highlights of a long career at SSU.
